Celebrating Wisconsin DI's Volunteers!
April is National Volunteer Month and April 16, 2023 starts National Volunteer Week. Wisconsin Destination Imagination (WIDI) would like to take the opportunity to thank ALL of the volunteers who make this program possible.
According to the Destination Imagination (DI) website, each year more than 38,000 volunteers worldwide dedicate their time to the program. So far for the 2022-23 season, in Wisconsin alone we have on record, approximately:
- 274 Team Managers (TMs) and Team/Program Coordinators
- 184 Support Volunteers
- 272 Appraisers, including Regional and Affiliate Challenge Masters
- 5 volunteer directors on the the Board
- 13 Regional Directors
There are people who cross over into multiple categories including alumni and former TMs. The Board of Directors is also split across many committees. We know there are even more unrecorded volunteers who step up to help teams practice Instant Challenges, teach skills, work at fundraisers, bring snacks to practice, transport teams to tournaments…the list goes on and on.
We can do this because of the passion and the power of these volunteers.
