Meet the WIDI Team: Nikky Urbaniak, WIDI Affiliate Tournament Director
At Wisconsin Destination Imagination (WIDI), our success is powered by the incredible people who dedicate their time, talents, and creativity to supporting students across the state. From coordinating tournaments to training Team Managers and ensuring that every team has the resources they need, our affiliate-level staff and volunteers are here to make sure our program participants have what they need to succeed.
We’re excited to introduce you to the passionate individuals who make it all possible—each one committed to inspiring curiosity, collaboration, and innovation in Wisconsin’s next generation of problem solvers.

My Destination Imagination journey began when I was in 5th grade. I joined a team at my elementary school and have been hooked ever since! Throughout middle and high school, my team competed in the Fine Arts Challenge and enjoyed our many years of learning and laughing together.
As a college student, I stayed involved in DI as a Team Manager and then as a volunteer in various positions. Today, I sit on the Board of Directors, appraise at tournaments throughout the state, and will be taking on the Affiliate Tournament Director role beginning with the 2025-26 season.
I'm also looking forward to bringing DI to my own students! As a teacher, I firmly believe in the importance of STEAM education and critical thinking skills. I know that I wouldn't be where I am today without DI!
Currently, I reside in my hometown of Little Suamico with my parents. On the rare occasion that I'm not in my classroom, I can be found running Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in my zip code, reading through my long to-be-read list, or in a local bookstore adding to the list.
Thank you, Nikky, for your continued support of Destination Imagination!
